TRAVEL: Seabrook Stuns with Hometown Pride

Seabrook, Washington, is a beachcomber’s paradise with immediate access to the Pacific Ocean, and amenities to match. The exquisite developer’s dream was imagined two decades ago as a respite point for vacationers, day trippers, and residents to reboot and reimagine. There are now more than 500 homes spanning all sizes across nine proportionately placed neighborhoods with offerings for every lifestyle and dynamic.

Experienced and novice travelers are welcome in Seabrook. The town boasts more than 18 green spaces and amenities, including courts for tennis, pickleball, and basketball; rentals for land and sea; hiking paths, mountain bike trails, shopping, a farmers market, amphitheater, town hall, and swimming pools. Additional conveniences vary by property, but may include: pet-friendly accommodations, free parking, fire pits, fenced yards, accessible floor plans, and more.

Nestled about 2.5 hours from either Seattle or Portland, Seabrook’s promenades offer a refreshing vibe for the weary soul. Once you’ve arrived, it’s likely you’ll prefer ditching the vehicle altogether since the town was designed as a “walk to anything in five minutes” destination and has definitely met that goal. Walking trails and beach access abound when exploration is sought. Rather ride a bike around town? Easy.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

During our stay for this story, we opted to book the charming property known as “Happily Ever After” (that’s the other thing about Seabrook… the names). It seemed fitting for us as a family of three with two adults, one child, and one Belgian Malinois named Prince Caspian to stay in a place with a fairytale name like “Happily Ever After.”

That aside, the amenities at this particular property were outstanding on paper, but even better in person. We utilized the fully fenced yard, gas firepit, outdoor seating, outdoor shower, wireless internet, and covered porch deck during our stay. The two upstairs bedrooms were perfect for our family unit and Prince Caspian even had a breakfast (and dinner) nook under the staircase so we’re fairly certain he felt fancy. The open concept kitchen allowed ample space for cooking at home while enjoying quality time around the table doing a puzzle or watching TV in the adjacent living area. And the games! This property had games available in spades, which we quite enjoyed in the evenings.

KOKO’S RESTAURANT & TEQUILA BAR

The foodie in our group simply had to try the uber-popular Koko’s Restaurant & Tequila Bar to see what all the fuss was about – and it passed muster! By a lot.

Koko’s offers thoughtfully crafted homemade, modern Latin cuisine, including small bites, cocktails and made-from-scratch main meals. Every dish is made fresh to order with curated local ingredients.

We started with out-of-this-world fresh chips, salsa and guacamole. You can’t put plantain anything on the menu without us needing to try it, so that happened, too, and it was superb. The poblano cashew enchiladas were remarkable and I would absolutely have them again and recommend them to everyone. We chose the vegetarian option, but meat eaters could choose to add prawns, carnitas, steak, or chicken if preferred. This dish is also gluten-free.

Sort of not really a secret: Koko’s has a Seattle location, so if you can’t wait to try it by the beach, head over to 10th Ave.

CANDY & COFFEE

Craving dessert? The Sweet Life is exactly as it sounds! Right on Front Street at town center, this retro candy shop is decidedly divine! A rotating selection of local small batch ice cream is the icing on the cake, but don’t forget to try the artisanal fair trade chocolates and groovy flashback fancies, too! Open Sunday-Thursday from12-8pm and Friday-Saturday from 12-9pm.

Coffee is a necessity when we travel and it was exciting to try a new spot (to us) in Seabrook. Across the street from The Sweet Life is Vista Bakeshop, a walk-up-window into the world of caffeinated bliss. Hours are on the early side (7am-3pm) so get in line or be left behind.

SEABROOK PRIDE

Representation matters, and it’s one of the many reasons The Seattle Lesbian wanted to highlight Seabrook for its inclusive nature (pun partially intended).

Seabrook Pride will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Market Street. Savor delicious bites from a variety of food trucks offering an array of cuisines. Vendor booths featuring unique and eye-popping creations from locals and friends of the Seabrook community will set up perches complimenting live performances, musical guests, and engaging activities throughout the day.

This coastal celebration spawned to bring people together. Connect with your friends, family, and neighbors while making new memories oceanside.

Lodging options available during Seabrook Pride include cozy beach cottages, spacious family retreats, bungalows, and everything in between. Browse the possibilities; your Seabrook Pride adventure awaits!
