Grey’s Anatomy Stars Spark Buzz with Confirmed Romance

Actors Caterina Scorsone and E.R. Fightmaster have confirmed a real-life relationship years after portraying a couple on the long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.

The pair, who played Dr. Amelia Shepherd and Dr. Kai Bartley, respectively, were seen holding hands during a recent outing in Los Angeles, publicly confirming their romance roughly three years after their characters’ on-screen relationship aired in Season 19.

The confirmation follows multiple public appearances together, including attending a high-profile Oscars after-party earlier this month.

Scorsone, a longtime cast member who joined the series in Season 7, and Fightmaster, who appeared in Seasons 18 and 19, first shared screen time as romantic partners in a storyline that ended on an emotional note. Their characters’ relationship, while brief, resonated with viewers and contributed to the show’s ongoing focus on diverse relationships and identities.

The development has drawn attention from fans of the series, where on-screen relationships often generate strong audience engagement. Grey’s Anatomy, created by Shonda Rhimes, has long been known for blending character-driven romance with medical storytelling, and for its representation of LGBTQ relationships.

Scorsone was previously married to musician Rob Giles, with whom she shares three children, while Fightmaster has gained recognition for roles that highlight nonbinary representation in television.
