Track and Field Power Couple Nikki Hiltz and Emma Gee Are Engaged

Non‑binary middle‑distance star Nikki Hiltz and steeplechase trailblazer Emma Gee have announced their engagement, marking a milestone moment for one of track and field’s most beloved queer power couples.

The pair shared the news through matching Instagram posts featuring a Sedona, Arizona sunset, sparkling engagement rings, and the caption “Fiancé unlocked.”

Hiltz and Gee, who have been together since 2020 and now live in Flagstaff with their dog Scout, have long been admired not only for their athletic achievements but also for their visibility and advocacy within the LGBTQ+ community.

A love story rooted in courage, visibility, and sport

Hiltz, a World Championships silver medalist and LGBTQ Sports Hall of Fame inductee, reflected on the emotional significance of the moment, writing that every run, hug, and morning together reminds them they are “living the life I once dreamed of.”

Gee, known for making history as the first out LGBTQ+ student‑athlete at Brigham Young University, shared her own joy in the comments. Her journey—from navigating a conservative upbringing to becoming a vocal advocate for queer athletes—has made her a role model in her own right.

The couple’s relationship has been a visible anchor of support throughout their careers. Gee has cheered Hiltz through national titles and Olympic trials, while Hiltz has championed Gee’s resilience as she broke barriers at BYU and later competed in the 2024 Olympic trials.

A shared future on and off the track

Both athletes are aiming for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, training side‑by‑side as they continue to build a life grounded in authenticity, gratitude, and community.

Their annual Pride 5K in Flagstaff has become a cherished event, offering a safe space for queer runners and allies to show up as themselves—an extension of the values they embody in their personal and professional lives.
